A UX/UI Case Study
The Little Things - Working.png

Have you ever tried to take a short nap on the train only to wake up and find yourself at the end of the line?

How can you help passengers wake up just before the train arrives at their station?

Persona

Hauwa is a tired passenger on a train going to Cardiff. She has been travelling for hours and just wants to get some sleep before her big business meeting, but can’t because she is afraid of missing her stop.

Goals/App Requirements

-Wake Hauwa up 30 minutes before getting to her stop; alerts: sound, banner, vibration

-Hauwa should be able to adjust alarm settings to suit her preferences

-Map within app with real-time journey tracking

-Search trains/stops

User Journey

I mapped out the user's steps to see how I could simplify their journey to help them reach their most important goals with the application.

Low-Fi Wireframes

At the start of my design process I created low fidelity wireframes to get a general idea of how to optimise the application for convenient use.

Medium Fidelity Wireframes

I did not feel entirely satisfied with my initial sketches, so I went ahead to create wireframes that brought me a bit closer to the final product. This helped me decide what to remove and new additions to implement.

Once I tested the usability of the app, I started designing the final screens in Figma.

What did I learn?

The biggest challenge while working on this case study, was coordinating colours.

This challenge has pushed me to work more on my design system and improve my ability when it comes to structure and coordination. Hopefully, this reflects in my upcoming projects!
